Foreign Trade Policy of Turkey: from Secularization to Liberalization

This article considers the evolution of Turkey’s foreign trade policy since 1980-s, afterwards the import substitution policy failed. The analysis focuses on the role of Turkey as a crucial element of regional trade, and perhaps of the global trade. The country reinforces its participation in global value chains and focuses on increasing country’s share in world trade. The paper examines the features of geographical and commodity structure of the Turkish international trade and its dynamics.
